At Smith Petrie Carr & Scott Insurance, we are dedicated to our long-term client relationships and grateful for the trust and confidence you have placed in our team. As an independent insurance broker operating in Ontario, we adhere to the direction provided by The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO). RIBO regulates the licensing, ethical conduct and professional competence of insurance brokers who provide services for customers in Ontario.
As part of our commitment to you, we believe transparency is key. All RIBO licensees are required to provide customers with access to two explanatory documents – Principles of Conduct for Insurance Intermediaries and About Your Registered Insurance Broker. Combined, these resources outline expectations around how we operate as a brokerage, and the kind of professional behaviour and support you can expect to receive from your dedicated insurance broker.
CISRO Principles of Conduct for Insurance Intermediaries (the Principles)
This document describes the common regulatory standards followed by insurance intermediaries, such as brokers, in Canada. “The Principles” details expectations around the fair treatment of customers, including reference to compliance, customers’ interests, conflicts of interest, advice, disclosure and product promotion.
