Insurance Providers

Small business insurance is arranged for by Smith Petrie Carr & Scott Insurance Brokers Ltd. and underwritten by a number of licensed Canadian insurance companies.

What We Earn

For business insurance policies we earn a percentage of premium when a new policy is sold or an existing policy is renewed. This base commission varies from 10% to 25% depending upon the product line and the insurer. In addition, based on the loss performance of the policies that we have sold, we may also earn additional compensation, which is not guaranteed. That compensation is determined based on the profit (if any) which is generated over time by all of the small business insurance policies we have placed with a particular insurance company. Some of our marketing expenses are also reimbursed.
